"Tested XX"
It was first stamped onto blade pans and later stamped onto the blades themselves. “XX.” Simple proof that a Case blade has been properly tempered and tested - not once, but twice. Today you can still find this famous “XX” mark on a Case blade. It still means what it meant around the turn of the 20th century. That at Case, we are willing to take the extra time needed to do things right. Infact, that’s our pledge. And we stamp it on every knife we make.

Steel

Chrome Vanadium is a special formula of alloyed steel and is the “original” Case steel. These blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy resharpening. However, this steel alloy is less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration. A little extra care will help maintain the finish and sharp edge. Just keep a thin film of oil on the blades and they will keep that bright finish.

Case Tru-Sharp™ surgical stainless steel is a special high-carbon, stainless cutlery steel. Tru-Sharp blades hold an edge longer than conventional steel and offer extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.
